Senior Management Team

The Senior Management Team is formed of a representative each from the Managing Committee, Finance, Administration and the three main areas of Sangath’s work – Child Development, Adolescent & Youth Health, and Adult Mental Health. The term will parallel that of the Managing Committee.
    The team provides assistance in drafting the policies and protocols of the organisation with respect to administration, finance and human resources; assess and recommend increments and redress grievances with respect to increments; suggest changes to the administrative structure as required; conduct initial screening and recommending new project proposals; and handle financial matters in the range of Rs 5,000 - Rs 10,000.
    The Senior Management Team meets every month to discuss organisational and management issues and develop appropriate policies. The recommendations are sent to the Managing Committee for approval. The Senior Management Team acts as a link between coordinators, service providers and the Managing Committee.

Dr. Abhijit Nadkarni is an addiction psychiatrist conducting research aimed at developing and evaluating interventions for alcohol use disorders in low resource settings. He was a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK and is currently based in Sangath, Goa where he leads the Addictions Research Group. Having completed his medical degree and a specialized degree in psychiatry in Goa, India; he further pursued his post graduate training in General Adult and Addictions Psychiatry under the South London and Maudsley training scheme in UK. He then earned a Masters in Mental Health Services Research from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College, London and did his doctoral studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His research interests encompass global mental health, and particularly alcohol use disorders. Having recently completed one of the largest cohort study exploring the progression of alcohol use disorders in India, he is currently leading programmes to develop and evaluate a lay counsellor delivered complex intervention for alcohol dependence in low resource settings and to develop a supportive psychosocial intervention for family members of people with alcohol problems. He is actively involved in the capacity building of mental health researchers and lay health workers. He teaches on the Global Mental Health MSc course at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Leadership in Mental Health course in Goa and a similar course hosted by the World Health Organisation-Eastern Mediterranean Region Office.

Percy has completed her masters in psychology with BEd and is the coordinator of the SNAC programme. She earlier worked as a clinical supervisor with Manthan. She loves working with children and is especially interested in understanding children's learning disabilities. Percy enjoys collaborating with groups or individuals involved in improving children's lives. In her current role, Percy works as a senior researcher on the INFORM team.

After her post-graduate degree from JBIMS and seven years in banking, Shreyas has enthusiastically moved to Sangath. Here, she is aiming at meaningful work, and endeavours to make a positive impact on her environment. She is an avid nature lover and an aspiring farmer.

Prachi has a masters in clinical psychology from Pune University and is the coordinator of the SHAPE programme. She has been with Sangath for more than a decade and charms everybody with her public relations and networking skills.
