September 21: World Alzheimer's Day

World Alzheimer's Day - 21st September

Celebrated on 21st of September, World Alzheimer’s Day was created to raise awareness about the disease, give support to those affected, to seek further research for a cure and to diminish social stigma.

Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that destroys large areas of the brain overtime leaving the affected individual with little comprehension or awareness. The disease progresses slowly but surely beginning with slight loss of memory and lapses where they forget familiar names or objects. This may not be identified by a doctor as Alzheimer’s disease neither will it be recognized by friends and family. As the disease progresses the individual’s ability to remember, plan and take care of themselves decreases. In the last stages of the disease the individual loses the ability of speech, needs help performing even daily tasks.

This highly debilitating disease currently has no cure. Sangath will soon begin work in this are. Keep checking our site for an update of this project.
