Sangath’s core clinical activities cover the whole life span ranging from children to the elderly. We provide services in our centres in north and south Goa and in schools and institutes.

Our child guidance clinic which began over ten years ago continues to deliver services at our two centres in Porvorim (north Goa) and Raia (south Goa). The most common referrals are for children with developmental delays or learning difficulties, adolescents with difficulties in studies and career decisions, adults with mental illness and families with issues of domestic violence. A multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, developmental pediatrician and occupational therapist provide the services. Our adult mental health work has expanded and we have designed a new adult client record form for clinical audit. Monthly data is maintained for all clients.

Sangath also provides services in schools and institutes. As part of our school program we have trained school health counselors and in the last year a number of children from these schools have been availing of the counselling services. We have also trained school health nurses from around 60 Navodaya schools across the country and these trained nurses have been delivering counselling to students from these schools. In 2008 – 09 Sangath has been providing counselling services at the Smt.Parvatibai Chowgule college

Sangath also holds separate Clinical and Research Meetings once a month. In the clinical meeting, all clinicians of Sangath meet to discuss clinical issues, such as cases or clinical audits. This is an important opportunity for clinicians to update their skills and their professional development. The research meeting comprises presentations on new projects, findings of our research studies or on research methods.
